Job summary

Clayton County Police Department seeks a Police Ambassador to support administrative and low-risk tasks, helping free officers for higher priority calls. The role does not involve arrest powers or weapons, but is essential to public safety.

The position includes taking incident reports, preparing correspondence, operating GCIC computers after certification, assisting with evidence handling, traffic control, and staff duties at HQ and precincts, requiring strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a High School diploma or GED.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Ability to operate a computer and office equipment is required.
• Applicants must pass a background investigation to include polygraph examination.
• The Police Department operates 24 hours a day and seven days a week; must be able to work any shift.

Responsibilities

• Takes police incident reports from citizens in person or by telephone; completes incident reports and submits through Records Management System.
• Prepares correspondence, reads training material, participates in classes and meetings; direct contact with citizens.
• Safely operates County vehicles per Vehicle Driver Policy and completes Driver Safety Class.
• Assists officers with impounding vehicles after the impound form is signed.
• Assists officers with collection and preservation of evidence and property under supervision.
• Handles low risk calls, missing person searches, and provides traffic control support; monitors security cameras.
