Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Georgia driver's license.
• Current Georgia POST certification as a law enforcement officer.
• Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Must be qualified to operate a firearm.
• May be required to attain additional unit-specific certifications.

Responsibilities

• Enforces all County, state, and federal codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations to protect life and property and deter crime.
• Patrols assigned areas to maintain security and observe suspicious persons and violators.
• Performs surveillance, collects data, and develops trends for investigations.
• Investigates reported crimes, interviews victims and witnesses, and gathers evidence.
• Obtains warrants, conducts searches, and assists in arrests; transports prisoners.
• Responds to emergencies, assists fellow officers, and conducts traffic stops; mediates disputes.
• Documents case information and assists in prosecution; appears in court to present evidence.
• Communicates with dispatchers, other agencies, and community partners; maintains manuals and records.
• Attends shift meetings and training to stay current with policies and procedures.
