Reports to the Senior Vice President of News and Public Relations

The PR Manager position is a full-time role in our Dallas office designed for a PR professional with 5-8 years of experience in public relations, communications, or media/journalism. Agency and B2B experience are strongly preferred.
We operate effectively and efficiently on our clients’ behalf in a hybrid work environment, in the office two days (T/W) each week and working remotely three days (M/Th/F).
Responsibilities
- Develop PR plans and strategies aligned with client business goals and execute them flawlessly.
- Serve as a day-to-day client contact and trusted advisor, leading client calls, providing strategic counsel, managing expectations and ensuring work remains on time and within scope.
- Recognize communications opportunities, reputational risks and emerging issues and recommend appropriate strategies.
- Enhance clients’ voices, visibility and reputations through earned media, thought leadership and other strategic communications opportunities.
- Develop and pitch compelling story ideas to local, regional and national media, recognizing news angles and the needs of journalists.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with reporters, editors, producers and other media professionals.
- Manage media relations and prepare and position clients for success with reporters.
- Be an idea and content generator, understanding that in the modern PR environment, you don’t always have to wait for reporters to make something happen.
- Translate complex legal, business and industry topics into clear, compelling content for a variety of audiences.
- Write effectively across a range of formats, including news releases, blog and social media posts, white papers, authored commentaries, professional bios, talking points and video content.
- Collaborate with other professionals in generating website content, social media content and executing other digital strategies to meet client needs.
- Measure communications results and use insights to evaluate effectiveness and recommend next steps.
- Provide direction, feedback and mentorship to junior team members while maintaining accountability for quality and deadlines.
Experience – Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, communications or a related field
- A combined minimum of five years in the following roles: News reporter, producer or editor; Agency account service; In-house PR manager
- Strong client service and account management experience
Experience – Preferred
- Professional services experience, particularly law, public affairs, healthcare or energy sectors
- Experience working with attorneys, law firms or other complex B2B organizations
- Crisis communications, issues management, litigation communications or reputation management
- Agency experience

- Strategic and tactical understanding of primary social media and digital platforms.
