Job description

Join Nectar

Nectar is looking for an Account Executive who takes big swings, never stops leveling up, and makes the whole team better in the process.

We're a tight-knit, high-performing communications agency that shapes the stories of today's most disruptive technology companies including LinkedIn, Google Cloud, the world's biggest AI company (yes, that one), and a growing roster of breakout startups across AI, enterprise, and consumer. We punch above our weight because we show up with energy, urgency, and ambition, and because we hold each other to a genuinely high bar.

As an Account Executive, you'll be at the center of the action—turning strategy into smart execution, building relationships with media, and helping clients tell stories that break through. You'll take ownership of your work, bring ideas to the table, and develop the confidence to become a go-to partner for clients and teammates alike.

Nectarines are curious about where media and technology are headed, especially in this age of AI, and actively use that curiosity to think bigger and move faster. We collaborate without ego, communicate clearly, and take ownership from kickoff to follow-through.

If you're energized by tech, passionate about storytelling, and ready to do the best work of your career in an inclusive environment where your ideas actually matter, this is your place.

About You

You're a sharp communicator who knows that great PR is equal parts curiosity, creativity, persistence, and follow-through. You keep a close eye on the news, understand what makes a story compelling, and are developing the instincts and relationships to turn smart ideas into meaningful coverage.

You're ready to move beyond simply completing assignments and start owning them. You can manage projects and deadlines, communicate confidently with clients and reporters, and spot opportunities without always being asked. You care about the details, ask smart questions, welcome feedback, and want to keep getting better at your craft.

You thrive on a team that moves quickly and expects a lot from one another. You're excited about technology and AI, curious about how communications is changing, and eager to experiment with new tools and approaches that make the work smarter and stronger.

What You Do
  • Own day-to-day execution across multiple technology client accounts, keeping projects, deliverables, and deadlines on track

  • Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, analysts, and other relevant influencers

  • Develop thoughtful pitches and identify timely media angles tied to client priorities, industry trends, and breaking news

  • Pitch announcements and proactive stories, follow up strategically, and help drive consistent media results

  • Draft and edit pitches, press releases, briefing documents, award submissions, social copy, and other client-facing materials

  • Build targeted media lists and conduct research that uncovers new reporters, outlets, trends, and storytelling opportunities

  • Monitor client, competitor, industry, and cultural news to identify opportunities and risks before they become obvious

  • Communicate directly with clients through meetings, email, and Slack, providing clear updates and helping move work forward

  • Manage action items, timelines, agendas, activity trackers, coverage reports, and other core account materials

  • Prepare executives for media opportunities by developing briefing materials and supporting interviews

  • Collaborate with account leads and teammates to execute integrated campaigns across earned, owned, and social channels

  • Contribute ideas and research to brainstorms, strategic planning, new business pitches, and agency initiatives

  • Support and collaborate with junior teammates, sharing context and feedback that helps the entire team produce stronger work

  • Champion the use of AI tools and emerging tech to enhance writing, research, media intelligence, and content production efficiency

What You Offer
  • 2–3 years of public relations, communications, or integrated marketing experience, preferably within an agency environment

  • Prior experience supporting technology clients strongly preferred, particularly across AI, enterprise technology, B2B, consumer tech, or other innovation-driven sectors

  • Demonstrated media relations experience, including pitching reporters and contributing to meaningful earned media results

  • Strong writing, editing, research, and verbal communication skills across a range of formats

  • An understanding of what makes a compelling story and the curiosity to connect client priorities to the broader news cycle

  • Confidence communicating with clients and taking increasing ownership of projects and deliverables

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines without sacrificing quality

  • High attention to detail and a commitment to producing polished, thoughtful work

  • A proactive, solutions-first mindset—you flag opportunities and challenges early and take ownership of moving work forward

  • Curiosity about technology, media, culture, and the rapidly evolving communications landscape

  • A collaborative approach and willingness to give, receive, and act on feedback

  • Familiarity with AI tools and emerging technologies, with enthusiasm for using them thoughtfully to work smarter and improve the quality of communications

  • Work from our San Francisco or New York office hub, San Francisco preferred
