Job description

Join Nectar

Nectar is looking for an Account Director who thinks big, leads with conviction, and knows how to turn ambitious ideas into exceptional results.

We're a tight-knit, high-performing communications agency that shapes the stories of today's most disruptive technology companies, including LinkedIn, Google Cloud, the world's biggest AI company (yes, that one), and a growing roster of breakout startups across AI, enterprise, and consumer. We punch above our weight because we show up with energy, urgency, and ambition, and because we hold each other to a genuinely high bar.

As an Account Director, you'll be a trusted strategic partner to clients, a motivating leader to your teams, and a driving force behind the work that defines Nectar. You'll connect business objectives to bold communications strategies, push beyond the expected, and deliver results that make a measurable impact.

Nectarines are curious about where media and technology are headed, especially in this age of AI, and actively use that curiosity to think bigger and move faster. We collaborate without ego, communicate clearly, and take ownership from kickoff to follow-through.

If you're energized by tech, passionate about storytelling, and ready to lead meaningful work in an inclusive environment where your ideas actually matter, this is your place.

About You

You're a strategic thinker, a seasoned communications professional, and a natural team leader who knows how to bring out the best in people. You combine sharp media instincts with strong business acumen, translating complex technology and industry trends into compelling narratives that drive results.

You're confident advising senior client stakeholders, navigating challenging conversations, and identifying opportunities that others might miss. You understand that exceptional client service requires more than delivering on a brief; it means anticipating needs, challenging assumptions, and bringing proactive ideas to the table.

You lead with high standards and genuine care. You enjoy developing talent, fostering collaboration, and creating an environment where people feel empowered to take ownership and produce their best work.

You're equally comfortable shaping a big-picture communications strategy, refining a high-stakes media pitch, or rolling up your sleeves to help a team deliver. You bring curiosity, sound judgment, and a solutions-first mindset to everything you do.

What You Do
  • Lead strategic communications programs across a portfolio of technology clients, ensuring campaigns deliver against business objectives and measurable outcomes

  • Serve as a trusted senior client advisor, building strong relationships and providing proactive, thoughtful counsel

  • Develop integrated communications strategies spanning earned media, executive visibility, thought leadership, content, and digital storytelling

  • Shape compelling narratives that position clients at the center of conversations around AI, enterprise technology, innovation, and emerging industry trends

  • Guide high-impact media relations programs, leveraging strong journalist relationships and sound editorial judgment to secure meaningful coverage

  • Counsel senior executives on media strategy, messaging, positioning, and high-stakes communications opportunities

  • Oversee the quality and strategic direction of client deliverables, including communications plans, press materials, executive content, and campaign reporting

  • Lead client meetings, strategic planning sessions, and presentations with confidence, clarity, and authority

  • Anticipate client challenges, identify opportunities, and recommend creative solutions that strengthen relationships and drive results

  • Manage and mentor account teams, setting clear expectations, providing actionable feedback, and supporting professional development

  • Oversee account operations, including staffing, resource allocation, project priorities, budgets, and profitability

  • Partner with senior leadership to identify organic growth opportunities, expand client relationships, and support retention

  • Contribute to new business efforts through strategic thinking, proposal development, and compelling presentations

  • Collaborate across teams and specialties to deliver creative, integrated campaigns that connect earned, owned, and digital channels

  • Champion innovation in communications, encouraging teams to explore emerging platforms, AI-enabled workflows, and new approaches to storytelling

  • Contribute to Nectar's culture of accountability, curiosity, collaboration, and exceptional client service

What You Offer
  • 8-10+ years of preferred experience in public relations, strategic communications, or integrated marketing

  • Prior experience at a communications or PR agency strongly preferred, including leading technology accounts across B2B, enterprise software, AI, cloud, or emerging technology

  • Demonstrated success developing and leading strategic communications programs that deliver measurable business impact

  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and executive leadership

  • Strong media relations expertise, including experience developing high-impact campaigns and securing coverage in leading business, technology, and industry publications

  • Excellent writing, editing, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling narratives

  • Experience advising executives on thought leadership, media engagement, corporate positioning, and reputation management

  • Strong business acumen, including experience managing account budgets, profitability, staffing, and resource planning

  • Proven experience managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail

  • Experience identifying organic growth opportunities and contributing to new business development

  • Confidence navigating complex client situations, managing competing priorities, and making thoughtful decisions under pressure

  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset and a commitment to building an inclusive, high-performing team culture

  • Champion the use of AI tools and emerging technology to enhance writing, research, strategic planning, media intelligence, and content production efficiency while maintaining quality and editorial judgment
