The California Lottery is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise headquartered in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the state’s general fund. Our mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retailer compensation.

In fiscal year 2023-24, the California Lottery provided over $2 billion in supplemental funding for California public schools, bringing the total contributions to more than $46 billion since we began in 1985. Lottery products are sold at more than 23,000 retail locations throughout the state. Product offerings include an average of 52 fun and entertaining Scratchers games and several draw games such as Powerball, Mega Millions, and SuperLotto Plus and daily games such as Fantasy 5 and Hot Spot.

Job Description and Duties

Come join an incredible public affairs and communications team at the California Lottery! As the Public Records Act (PRA) & Special Projects Coordinator, the person in this position will serve an important role not only in communicating across Lottery leadership but also with individuals requesting public records from the department. The PRA & Special Projects Coordinator will work alongside and support expert communicators and a team of creative media professionals within CA Lottery's Public Affairs and Communications division, which is responsible for maintaining and bolstering a positive reputation among California adults.

Working Conditions
  • Schedule: The primary schedule for the PRA & Special Projects Coordinator is 8AM to 5PM
  • Travel: Limited in-state travel may occur on an as-needed basis
  • Other: The PRA & Special Projects Coordinator must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership skills, and good written and verbal communication skills. A positive attitude, forward thinking, an ability to take direction and accept feedback, and asking the right questions and completing multiple assignments under deadlines is a must.
