Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks an experienced public policy professional to represent AWS before state and local policymakers in the Pacific Northwest, with emphasis on Oregon. The role drives policy advocacy, engages government officials, and coordinates with trade associations to promote cloud adoption and data center infrastructure expansion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
• 12+ years of public policy, government relations, community relations, public affairs, corporate social responsibility, or equivalent experience
• Experience in relevant public policy and advocacy on payments and financial services issues
• Experience working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies

Responsabilités

• Assist in developing and executing government affairs advocacy objectives and public policy priorities for AWS in the Pacific Northwest, with focus on Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Alaska.
• Lead advocacy efforts on data center infrastructure policy in Oregon
• Identify and communicate potential state and local public policy opportunities and threats; develop enhancement or mitigation strategies and policy positions for issues affecting the AWS business; manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with AWS business objectives.
• Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including state and local policymakers and executives, industry associations, and alliance partners to promote and advocate the company’s public policy positions.
• Leverage appropriate corporate membership opportunities in industry associations and policy organizations on behalf of AWS, and ensure appropriate utilization of outside consultants.
