Job summary

Duke University in Durham, NC seeks a Communications Administrative Specialist to support communications, marketing, events, and administrative operations across the Sanford School of Public Policy, including WFPC, SEAREG, and DCID.

You will work with faculty, researchers, staff, students, and partners to amplify research, promote public engagement, and manage website content, newsletters, and social media; hybrid on-site and remote work with occasional evening/weekend events.

Qualifications

  • Education: two years of postsecondary education.
  • Experience: four years of clerical or research experience to acquire strong skills in administrative or project research responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree may substitute for the education requirement and two years of the required experience.
  • Strong writing and attention to detail.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative and customer-service oriented.
  • Comfortable working independently and within teams.
  • Preferred: degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Political Science, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Experience in website management and digital content.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as communications liaison for WFPC, increasing visibility of research, events, and initiatives.
  • Manage WFPC website updates and content development.
  • Develop and distribute newsletters and update staff profiles.
  • Write and edit reports, briefs, and presentations.
  • Coordinate events, social media content, and promotional materials.
  • Support SEAREG and DCID online presence with current content.
  • Create content for newsletters, news releases, and media outreach.
  • Collaborate with Sanford Communications on multimedia initiatives.
