Job summary

The City of McAllen seeks a Permit Technician to assist the Plans Examiner by reviewing, processing, and filing permit applications and related documents. You will interact with the public, explain procedures, and ensure permits are issued accurately for building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, signs, demolition and moving projects.

Responsibilities include clerical support, data entry, and maintaining organized permit records while adhering to established guidelines and city codes.

Qualifications

• Receives, reviews and processes permit applications and related documents.
• Provides clerical support and accurate data entry.
• Interacts with the public with tact and diplomacy while explaining procedures and codes.
• Issues building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, sign, demolition and moving permits.
