The City of Sanford Development Services Department: Building is seeking an administrative lead to oversee inspections, permit issuance, and licensing operations. You will drive efficiency and accuracy in clerical work supporting regulatory standards and ensure permits are routed and processed timely.
Responsibilities include handling permit requests, coordinating with customers and inspectors, and expediting plan reviews across City departments.
Under administrative direction, the purpose of this position is to administer the operations of inspections, permit issuance, and licensing within the City. An employee in this classification functions at lead staff level and leads the efficiency and accuracy of the administrative clerical work in relation to regulatory standards, inspection activities, permitting and licensing functions for building construction. Ensure, permits received are routed appropriately and processed correctly in a timely manner.
Receives and processes residential and commercial permit requests. Verifies citizen/contractor information is up to date and correct and all required forms are submitted for review.
Receives both oral and written communication from citizens, ascertains the nature of the call and resolves personally or directs the call to the appropriate individual or department.
Collaborates with customers and inspectors to schedule inspections, document construction and project status.
Assists customers with building questions or concerns as well as filtering customers to other departments as needed.
Issues documents in compliance with established building codes and regulations.
Coordinates inspections performed by outside sources for documentation purposes.
Performs routine and non-routine administrative duties, e.g., data entry, record maintenance, filing, calculations, payments, and correspondence.
Expedites the plan review process, including review by other City departments.
Responsible for coordinating and issuing large commercial projects.
Prepares notices for outstanding permit re-inspection fees and permits.
Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
