Job summary

North County Regional Fire Authority is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Administration team in support of our public safety mission. This on-site role reports to the Human Resources Manager and handles payroll, benefits coordination, and related HR information systems.

The position requires hands-on payroll experience, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret payroll rules and collective bargaining agreements.

Qualifications

• Three years of payroll experience for an organization with at least 75 employees.
• Associate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources, or a related field.
• Knowledge of payroll, timekeeping, benefits, retirement, and leave-administration practices; strong reconciliation, spreadsheet, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and reconcile earnings, deductions, leave accruals, specialty pay, and retroactive adjustments.
• Complete payroll reporting and year-end processing.
• Coordinate benefit and retirement transactions and assist employees with payroll questions.
• Maintain confidentiality and interpret payroll rules and union contracts.
