Job description

Overview

LAX is in the middle of a major modernization, and every lane closure and detour affects the people who live, work, and travel around it. As Public Outreach Specialist I on the ATMP Roadways and Enabling Projects, you'll keep travelers, neighbors, businesses, and stakeholders informed before change arrives, working onsite at LAX on one of Southern California's most visible infrastructure programs.

Ramos CS, now part of Colliers Engineering & Design, is an engineering, program, and construction management firm providing quality transit, transportation, and infrastructure consulting services on public projects across the Western United States. We focus on mobility-related projects that serve the needs of our communities within the municipal, transit, transportation, airport, and port sectors. With a staff of diversified, licensed professionals, our philosophy stems from the idea that successful project execution starts with people. On a program like ATMP, that means starting with the people who live and work around it, and with the communicator who keeps them informed.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in implementing the ATMP Roadways and Enabling Projects stakeholder engagement and communications plans.
  • Helps track and address public inquiries, comments, complaints, and requests for information and escape issues as appropriate.
  • Assists in preparing and distributing traffic advisories, construction notices, project updates, and community notifications.

  • Drafts routine correspondence, meeting notices, stakeholder updates, and outreach materials.
  • Assists with development of PowerPoint presentations, fact sheets, FAQs, and informational materials.
  • Coordinates logistics for public outreach events, open houses, workshops, community meetings, and stakeholder briefings.
  • Supports website updates, document uploads, and content management activities.
  • Assists with social media content preparation, scheduling, graphics coordination, and monitoring.
  • Supports media event preparation, including attendee coordination, logistics, and material distribution.
  • Maintains communication records, outreach activity logs, and stakeholder engagement databases.
  • Coordinates meeting schedules, agendas, sign-in sheets, and meeting summaries.
  • Monitors project activities and community concerns and provides updates to the Public Information Specialist II.
  • Assists in preparing reports documenting outreach efforts, stakeholder engagement activities, and communication metrics.
  • Coordinates distribution of project information to internal project teams and external stakeholders.
  • Supports contractor and consultant teams in implementing approved project communication protocols.
  • Assists with field outreach activities at project sites, meetings, and community events.
  • Performs other communications and outreach-related duties as assigned.

  • Experience in public outreach, public relations, communications, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting public infrastructure, transportation, aviation, construction, or government projects preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
