Job summary

Florence County is seeking a Litter Officer I to manage animal care and support litter, rabies and vector control programs at our shelter. The role involves responding to citizen calls, assisting in investigations, and coordinating with law enforcement and veterinarians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain Limited Duty Officer certification within one year of hire.
• Minimum pesticide training with Pesticide Applicator certification.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Care for animals in the facility, including feeding and cleaning.
• Respond to dispatch call list and handle service calls.
• Investigate complaints and issue tickets/citations.
• Assist in euthanasia duties.
• Inspect and respond to stray-related issues and traps.
• Assist in animal cruelty investigations.
• Maintain proper documentation of call situations and actions.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Limited Duty Officer certification within one year

Pesticide Applicator certification
