Job summary

Poplar Creek Public Library District in Streamwood, IL is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support public service desks with basic research, readers’ advisory, and technology assistance. The role includes program development and representing the library at events outside the building.

Responsibilities cover helping patrons with catalogs, self-checkout, databases, e-readers, and tablets; planning classes; maintaining displays; and preparing bibliographies or reports as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent library experience required.
• Minimum 3 years public library experience preferred.
• Weekend/evening work required; valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technology, readers advisory and reference assistance to patrons.
• Plan and host classes and programming activities.
• Represent the library at Community Engagement events.
• Maintain professional service at the public reference desk.
• Assist with catalog, self-checkout, databases, internet, e-readers and tablets.
