Job summary

The City of Port Townsend is seeking a Library Manager for the Port Townsend Public Library. This term-limited position has an anticipated duration of one year.

Under general direction, the Library Manager oversees operation, maintenance, day-to-day supervision, and activities of the library, including supervising staff and coordinating technical, collections, and public services, along with digital services.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Library and Information Science/Studies from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Washington State Library Board Certification required upon employment if MLS/MLIS obtained but WSLC not yet.
• Three years progressively responsible public library experience.
• Possess a valid Washington Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Manage library services including technical, collections, and public services; coordinate digital services.
• Supervise staff and conduct performance assessments; oversee service desk operations and schedules.
• Assist with budget development, monitoring, and reporting; train staff on systems and software.
• Maintain library information systems and liaise with IT and other city divisions.
• Prepare monthly and annual statistical reports; manage acquisitions, budget tracking, and facilities planning.
