Job summary

Handley Regional Library seeks a customer-service oriented individual with strong communications skills to assist the public at the busy public service desk. Nights and weekends required.

The position offers 22 hours per week and pays $15.00 per hour. Under supervision of the Circulation Services Coordinator, the Library Assistant performs paraprofessional circulation duties, answers questions, checks materials in and out, and helps patrons locate items, while keeping the desk area neat and

Qualifications

• Required: Two-year college degree.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, library experience, and circulation systems knowledge.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills to assist the public.

Responsibilities

• Assist at the Public Service Desk with circulation tasks, fines, and new cards.
• Answer patron questions and guide patrons to materials and services.
• Open and close circulation desks, and manage money counts and entrances.
• Maintain neat, accurate shelving and data entry for circulation records.
• Support other departments as needed and provide courteous service.
