Job summary

The Public Interest Law Project seeks a paralegal/communications associate to support our legal and administrative teams. A detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative colleague is needed to advance PILP’s mission in California.

You will assist with civil litigation, fundraising, and communications, including preparing filings, managing case files, and contributing to newsletters and publications. This hybrid role offers a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

Associate or bachelor's degree.
At least two years’ legal experience or paralegal degree.
Experience in housing, homelessness, and/or public benefits issues.
Experience creating and managing content for social media, websites, email marketing, or other digital communications platforms.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; strong copywriting and proofreading abilities.
Knowledge of OneLegal, TrueFiling, and similar e-filing systems.
Outstanding organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
Demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice, and DEI in workplace and communities.
Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Office; Salesforce familiarity.

Responsibilities

Support legal and administrative teams, including document preparation and management.
Assist attorneys with civil litigation, trainings, and publications.
Coordinate with fundraising and communications, including newsletters and website postings.
Maintain mailing lists and assist grant-related data collection.
Participate in trainings and special projects as needed.
