Job summary

Institute for Justice in Arlington, VA and other offices is seeking experienced litigators to join our national public-interest law firm. Attorneys will develop cases, direct legal strategy, and advocate for individual rights across economic liberty, free speech, and educational choice.

With emphasis on impact, you will handle depositions, oral arguments, and ownership of cases through to the Supreme Court. Flexible work with active engagement in media and policymaking complements the practice.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• A desire to create real world impact and willingness to push the envelope in strategizing how to win challenging cases.
• At least 5 years experience litigating cases in federal or state courts; clerking experience preferred.
• Passion for limiting government power to protect individual rights.

Responsibilities

• Develop and direct legal strategy for cases across offices.
• Take depositions and present oral arguments through all litigation stages.
• Maintain ownership of cases up to and including U.S. Supreme Court.
• Engage in media writing, public speaking, and grassroots advocacy.
