Job summary

Institute for Justice, a national public-interest law firm, seeks experienced litigators to join our headquarters in Arlington, VA, and offices in Austin, Miami, Phoenix, and Seattle. Attorneys will own cases, direct strategy, take depositions, and argue before courts up to the Supreme Court.

We seek candidates with at least 5 years in federal/state litigation, exceptional writing skills, and a passion for limiting government power to defend individual rights.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Desire to create real world impact and willingness to push the envelope in strategizing how to win challenging cases.
• At least 5 years experience litigating cases in federal or state courts; litigators of all experience levels welcome if qualifications met.
• Passion for limiting government power to safeguard individual rights.
• Judicial clerkship experience strongly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage cases with ownership up to the U.S. Supreme Court.
• Direct legal strategy and supervise depositions and courtroom arguments.
• Collaborate in a team-based culture while maintaining independence on cases.
