Job summary

Democracy Forward Foundation (“Democracy Forward”) is seeking first- and second-year law students for paid, full-time summer internships to advance its mission of using the law to build collective power and promote democracy through litigation and regulatory engagement. Democracy Forward Foundation’s office is based in Washington, DC.

Interns are expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week. The internship runs May 27, 2027 – July 30, 2027, with an application deadline of Tue Oct 13, 11:59pm

Qualifications

• First- or second-year law students
• Interest in public-interest litigation
• Commitment to democracy and social progress
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in proceedings in federal/state courts and before agencies
• Draft legal documents, briefs, motions, and filings
• Prepare for arguments, hearings, and court appearances
• Monitor cases and discuss potential litigation or regulatory advocacy
• Contribute to strategic discussions and client meetings
