Job summary

Town of Plainfield invites applications for a Civil Engineer to plan and deliver municipal infrastructure improvements. You will manage design contracts, oversee construction, and work across transportation, utilities, and land development domains.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; P.E. license preferred within five years.
Municipal or public works experience desirable; strong knowledge of design and construction standards.

Responsibilities

Identify and maintain priority infrastructure improvements for the Town.
Select design consultants and contract methods for roads, utilities, and facilities.
Review plans, specs, cost estimates, and bid documents for capital projects.
Coordinate with inspectors to ensure compliance with design specs and safety standards.
Support asset management systems including GIS databases and inventories.
Collaborate with planning staff on land use and transportation plans; assist with zoning ordinances.
Respond to public inquiries and provide technical assistance on infrastructure projects.
Review private development proposals for conformity with municipal standards.
Attend Plan Commission and other meetings affecting town infrastructure.
Stay informed on state and federal regulations impacting municipal engineering.
