Job summary

City of Longview is seeking a Municipal Inspector to perform engineering inspections of public infrastructure and private development projects, in the field and in-office, to ensure compliance with applicable standards. The role conducts COP/erosion inspections, reviews plans, maintains records, and communicates with developers and contractors on inspection findings and inquiries.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and relevant inspection experience, with a valid Texas driver's

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent with two years of engineering inspection experience, or an equivalent education/experience combination.

Responsibilities

Conducts inspections of municipal capital improvement projects, public infrastructure construction, and/or private development projects.
Inspects public streets, driveways, utility mains, and/or other infrastructure.
Performs Certificate of Occupancy (COP), erosion control, and/or other types of inspections.
Reviews project plans and monitors for contractor compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, project specifications, and quality standards.
Prepares and maintains inspection records, reports, and documentation.
Communicates with developers, contractors, and/or other parties regarding inspection issues and/or other construction matters.
Responds to inquiries and complaints involving projects and/or inspection activities; assists with complaint investigations as required.
Participates in reviewing/approving engineering plans and development permits.
Assists with floodplain management activities as assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned or required
