Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking a skilled Public Infrastructure Inspector to support the Transportation and Drainage Operations team in Houston, TX. The role focuses on inspecting the collection system and other municipal construction projects to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and city codes.

Candidate will conduct on-site inspections, coordinate measurements, review drawings, and maintain thorough field notes and reports.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate.
• Four (4) years of skilled experience related to construction are required.
• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field may substitute for up to four years of the experience requirement.
• Requires a valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with City of Houston driving policy.

Responsibilities

• Inspects public infrastructures for various civil construction projects to ensure conformance to project specs and contract documents.
• On-site inspections and enforcement of work by contractors in compliance with plans, specs, and City codes.
• Coordinates measurements and reviews to assure conformance with technical specs; prepares field notes and reports.
• Maintains filing systems, records, and documentation; reviews drawings and specifications.
• Interacts with the public, contractors, and professionals to address inquiries and issues.
