Job summary

Training Leadership Consulting in Houston, TX seeks a Health and Wellness Educator to plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive corporate wellness programs for City departments. Responsibilities include presenting health education topics, coordinating events, and collaborating with Wellness Ambassadors to improve health outcomes.

The role emphasizes behavior change strategies, data collection, and reporting, with opportunities to lead high-impact initiatives and engage diverse employee groups

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Education, Behavioral Science or Public Health.
• No experience is required; directly related professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• Requires a valid Class C Texas driver's license and compliance with City of Houston driving policy.

Responsibilities

• Outline calendar of wellness events targeting health risks for each work shift.
• Leverage health plans, wellness, and community resources.
• Conduct presentations on health prevention issues (active living, healthy eating, stress reduction, tobacco cessation).
• Collect data and research to develop, pretest and evaluate health education techniques and materials.
• Schedule and present health education programs for employees, dependents, and retirees.
• Prepare health education pamphlets, visual aids, or projects.
• Assist with activities of the Wellness Advisory Council (EWAC).
• Collaborate with Wellness Ambassadors and stakeholders to disseminate wellness information.
• Guide site contacts in planning and developing wellness programs to create a culture of wellness.
• Utilize behavior change methods (Motivational Interviewing) to encourage healthy habits.
• Implement customized strategic wellness plans for city departments with goals and actions.
• Engage participants to modify high risk lifestyles using behavior change principles.
• Provide reports on participation, activities and outcomes.
• Assist in planning, design, delivery and evaluation of corporate health programs (screenings, events, etc).
• Lead special projects and track performance measures.
• Provide coverage for City of Houston Wellness Center as needed.
