Job summary

ICF seeks a Toxicologist to join our SPHERE team, supporting environmental health and toxicology at CDC and ATSDR. You will apply toxicology and risk assessment principles to evaluate health risks from hazardous chemicals and assist in developing health assessments and public health recommendations.

The role involves reviewing toxicological data, participating in site visits and public meetings, and leveraging MS Office tools to communicate findings to federal, state, and local partners.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in toxicology or related subject with at least 2 years of professional experience related to environmental health toxicology.
• OR Master’s degree in toxicology, environmental science, or related subject with at least 6 years of professional experience related to environmental health toxicology.
• U.S. Citizenship is required per Federal contract.
• Ability to obtain Federal government security clearance.
• Ability to travel for approved site visits, public meetings, or other project needs.

Responsibilities

• Apply toxicology, risk assessment, clinical toxicology, occupational toxicology, and risk communication to assess public health implications from exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• Assess metabolic pathway interactions of metals, solvents and vapors, radiation, pesticides, and other contaminants.
• Support analysis of toxicological/environmental data for hazardous waste sites.
• Evaluate data quality and relevance for health assessments and public health actions.
• Provide expert input to develop health assessments and health consultations requested by agencies and the public.
• Attend site visits and public meetings to provide technical assistance.
