***This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in either the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.***

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Conduct routine inspections to prevent or eliminate environmental and sanitation health hazards as directed; may regulate food facilities, drinking water programs (ROWPU & bottled water), food and water receipt and storage, and chemical latrines following current SOPs; duties may vary.
  2. Enforce health and safety laws and regulations.
  3. Prepare and maintain inspection records; gather evidence and recommend corrective actions.
  4. Update and maintain files, records, and documents; compile and synthesize data; prepare reports as required.
  5. Present community outreach programs; educate at-risk populations regarding services.
  6. Respond to public health complaints; collaborate with stakeholders; recommend corrective actions; document incidents.
  7. Assist with influenza vaccination outreach and campaigns.
  8. Respond to outbreaks of communicable diseases and foodborne illnesses; apply epidemiological methods; provide consultations.
  9. Refer issues beyond scope to supervisor and track resolutions.
  10. Address public health concerns; educate stakeholders.
  11. Record and maintain patient information per protocols and the Privacy Act.
  12. Identify signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
  13. Exercise initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making daily.
  14. Prioritize workload independently.
  15. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited public health program, associate degree, or U.S. Military technical training in relevant fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or related field preferred.
  • At least one year of experience inspecting food and drink establishments, with knowledge of federal laws and regulations.
  • Registered Sanitarian (RS) credential preferred.
  • Complete Servsafe Instructor and Proctor Courses and Exams before deployment.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience with quality control and laboratory testing in relevant industries.
  • Ability to multitask, be detail-oriented, organized, and communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office.
  • Adaptability to work shifts and operational changes.
  • Recent clinical experience of at least 6 months in patient care for healthcare providers and medical staff.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
  • Work mainly performed in an office environment.
  • Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
