Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Sanitation Supervisor to oversee sanitation operations in Welkom. This hybrid role requires a dedicated professional to manage a team focused on maintaining high standards of public health and environmental hygiene.

You will supervise waste collection, street cleaning, and public facility maintenance, and ensure compliance with health regulations while coordinating with municipal departments.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or relevant certification in Environmental Health or Public Health.
• At least 4 years of environmental health or sanitation experience, with 2+ in supervision.
• Knowledge of SA environmental health laws and waste management.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily sanitation teams, including waste collection and street cleaning.
• Develop sanitation plans and schedules for Welkom area.
• Inspect sanitation services for health and environmental compliance.
• Manage equipment and resources for the sanitation department.
• Train and evaluate sanitation staff, promoting safety and efficiency.
• Investigate public complaints on sanitation and hygiene; provide resolutions.
• Assist in public health awareness campaigns on sanitation and waste.
• Prepare reports on activities, metrics, and compliance status.
• Ensure PPE usage and safety protocols by all staff.
• Coordinate with other municipal departments and stakeholders.
