Job summary

The Department of Human Services in Arkansas is seeking a Health Program Specialist to develop, coordinate, implement, and monitor public health programs addressing key issues across the state, guiding efforts with evidence-based strategies and stakeholder engagement.

You will collaborate with internal departments, local health units, schools, nonprofits, and other agencies; analyze health data; prepare program reports and grant submissions; ensure compliance with laws and policy; and maintain

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, health science, social work, education, public administration, or a closely related field is required.
  • Strong understanding of public health principles and program development cycles.
  • Experience analyzing health data and preparing program reports and grant submissions.
  • Proficiency with data systems, spreadsheets, and digital tools (e.g., Excel, SharePoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate public health programs to address key health concerns.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness using health data and adjust strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Develop educational materials and guidance for partners and the public.
  • Prepare reports, grant applications, and program summaries in line with requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, local health units, schools, nonprofits, and agencies to coordinate service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, expenditures, outcomes, and evaluations.
  • Conduct community outreach and represent the agency at events and briefings.
  • Ensure activities comply with public health laws and policies.
