Job summary

The Virginia Department of Health seeks an experienced public health leader to serve as Human Services Program Director in Richmond. The role leads multidisciplinary teams across Tuberculosis, Healthcare Associated Infections/Antibiotic Resistance, and Newcomer Health, with strategic oversight of programs and budgets.

Telework up to 2 days per week is available. The position reports to the Office of Epidemiology Executive Leadership Team and requires strong grant and policy experience,

Qualifications

• Experience supervising public health personnel and teams.
• Knowledge of surveillance/epidemiology of communicable diseases.
• Experience in public health emergency responses (outbreak management).
• Experience developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships with government officials and others.
• Experience interpreting public health laws, regulations, and policies.
• Experience administering public health programs including budgets and projects.
• Experience preparing and managing federal public health grants and budgets.
• Experience providing timely, reliable public health technical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary teams managing Tuberculosis, Healthcare Associated Infections/Antibiotic Resistance, and Newcomer Health programs.
• Provide strategic leadership and program oversight.
• Contribute to policy development and regulatory tasks (budget, legislative reports).
• Oversee grant applications, budgets, procurement, and division budgets.
• Participate in Executive Leadership Team and strategic improvement initiatives.
