Job summary

Genesee County Health Department is seeking a qualified public health nurse to plan, organize and perform broad professional public health nursing functions, coordinating health programs across agencies and communities.

The candidate will coordinate services, promote community health, and lead program activities with supervision as required. Requires BSN and valid Michigan RN license with public health nursing experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
1 year of experience in public health nursing, or ADN with 3 years' experience.
Must be registered as a nurse in Michigan or have a temporary permit.
Valid Michigan driver's license and a vehicle for county business.

Responsibilities

Evaluate health trends and assess health status of populations and determinants of health.
Perform public health sciences including biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental public health.
Coordinate health services among Genesee County Health Department, hospitals, physicians and social agencies.
Improve referral system and increase access to health services for those in need.
Promote and maintain the health of individuals, families and the community through teaching and counseling.
Assist in evaluating health needs and participate in planning and implementing programs.
Organize and instruct volunteers or other community professionals.
Develop and coordinate implementation of special programs.
Provide routine direction to other employees.
Prepare reports and maintain records as required.
Collect data for quality assurance and program evaluation.
