This position functions as a full-performance laboratory scientist in the Division of Environmental Sciences. This position performs, analyses, interprets, and reports test results on environmental and/or food samples submitted to the State Public Health Laboratory using incubations, digestions, extractions, and analyte quantification through approved FDA, EPA, CDC, and/or Standard methods. This testing is performed as part of the Laboratories Administration’s activities to promote, protect, and preserve the health and well-being of the people in Maryland in conjunction with State and Federal funded public health initiatives.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Medical Technology, Pharmacy or Zoology from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of experience working in a chemistry laboratory performing analytical tests on environmental, biological or multi-matrix samples; or two years of experience working in a medical or public health laboratory performing diagnostic or public health testing on human specimens.
