Job summary

The University of California, San Francisco seeks an Informatics Specialist II to join a team strengthening CDPH’s public health data ecosystem. You will design and implement disease prevention activities, develop informatics solutions, and support data quality and surveillance systems across multiple partners.

The role requires programming (R, SQL, and/or Python) and collaboration with epidemiologists, informaticists, and data analysts to advance public health reporting and analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public health, health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 1+ years of directly relevant experience.
• Intermediate skills in data analysis, database management and systems programming, including SQL, Python, and/or R.
• Working knowledge of public health informatics software and systems and related standards.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply public health informatics concepts to projects of intermediate scope and complexity.
• Participate in project teams to develop informatics and data collection, management, and analysis systems.
• Conduct data analysis, data quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
• Contribute to monitoring systems and processes development and maintenance.
• Develop protocols and provide technical assistance to partners.
