Job summary

UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences seeks a Clinical Informatics Supervisor II to lead the Systems, Integration, and Pipelines Unit. You will supervise data engineers and informaticists, oversee enterprise data pipelines, and advance cloud-native architecture for statewide data infrastructure.

You will collaborate with CDPH and IGHS teams, guiding data modernization, governance, and analytics to support public health decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, health care IT, CS, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years directly related experience.
• 3+ years in lead/supervisor roles managing enterprise data engineering teams.
• Strong SQL, R, Python; familiarity with Apache Spark and distributed compute.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata, data modeling, and clinical informatics.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to enterprise data modernization projects, including cloud-native pipelines and scalable ingestion frameworks.
• Improve interoperability of CDPH enterprise systems and integrate with programs, LHJs, and statewide partners.
• Lead project teams in developing enterprise data collection, transformation, governance, metadata, and access systems.
• Identify and implement strategies for improving CDPH data platforms, Lakehouse structures, and data governance frameworks.
• Support and lead development of informatics and data exchange processes for data integration, transformation, access, governance, and reliability.
• Provide enterprise data engineering and informatics leadership to CDPH programs.
• Participate in complex data analysis, data modeling, data quality assurance and improvement projects.
