Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health in Augusta, GA seeks an Infectious Disease Coordinator within East Central Public Health District. The role supports protecting Georgian residents through nursing leadership, disease prevention, and population health initiatives.

Starting salary is listed at $65,000.00, with comprehensive benefits and a flexible work culture. The position requires GA RN licensure, a nursing degree (BSN or ASN) with PHN experience, CPR, and relevant clinical and programmatic

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing plus 2 years PHN experience and GA RN license with CPR.
  • Or Associate's degree in nursing plus 3 years PHN experience and PHN course within 1 year, GA RN license and CPR.
  • ERN trained with at least 2 years PH experience.
  • Experience in TB, HIV and STI clinics desired.
  • MAPEP

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, guides, and/or instructs work of subordinate staff.
  • Supervises and plans work of assigned staff.
  • Provides professional nursing care per nurse protocols and procedures.
  • Focuses on prevention of illness and health maintenance of populations.
  • Cares for populations during disasters and emergencies with protocols.
  • Identifies high risk populations and tailors interventions.
  • Delivers treatments, administers vaccines, provides preventive care per plan.
  • Screens and refers clients to other providers.
  • Provides clinical services to target population, including DOT.
  • Applies population health principles to practice.
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments and community needs assessments.
  • Develops care plans and updates based on responses.
  • Delivers health education sessions.
  • Coordinates program services with partners and organizations.
  • Develops and sustains community partnerships.
  • Mentors nursing staff and preceptors.
  • Manages program activities and evaluations.
  • Participates in drills on pandemics and mass dispensing.
  • Will complete Expanded Role Nurse training for other programs.
