Job summary

Jefferson County Public Health is seeking a Harm Reduction Specialist to administer non-clinical testing and resources for HIV, Hepatitis C, and other STIs. The role includes syringe services, education, street outreach, and trauma-informed harm reduction in diverse communities.

The position emphasizes collaboration, program development, evaluation, and equity. Training is provided; living experience with drug use is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Experience in harm reduction and STI prevention preferred.
• Experience with data collection and analysis is highly preferred.
• Spanish speaking ability is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in outreach and engagement with diverse communities.
• Ability to work in a county public health setting with trauma-informed approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide harm reduction services including syringe services and street outreach.
• Counsel on HIV/HCV/STIs using motivational interviewing.
• Administer testing for HIV/HCV/STIs at fixed sites and outreach locations.
• Provide counseling and referrals to care or prevention services.
• Coordinate education on overdose prevention and naloxone distribution.
• Collaborate with street outreach team to reach people experiencing homelessness.
• Provide information and referrals to community resources and housing options.
• Support inventory, supplies, and program logistics.
