The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is recruiting an entry-level epidemiologist to support surveillance, investigations, and prevention of public health events across the Richmond and Henrico Health Districts. You will conduct routine epidemiologic investigations, analyze data, and provide health education and disease control recommendations under supervision.

The role emphasizes collaboration with RHHD, data-driven decision making, and building health equity through community partnerships.

Qualifikationen

• Basic knowledge of communicable diseases and public health importance.
• Basic knowledge of public health surveillance and disease outbreak investigations.
• Working knowledge of biostatistics, computer data analysis, data quality assurance, and data management techniques.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and present statistical data.
• Some experience in epidemiology, public health, or a related area.

• Carry out surveillance, detection, and prevention of public health events in an assigned district or statewide program area.
• Consult on scientific and technical issues and conduct routine epidemiologic investigations.
• Collect and analyze data, provide health education and disease control recommendations.
• Work under supervision of a senior epidemiologist; ensure accuracy and practicality of results.
