Job summary

Florida Department of Health – Hillsborough County is seeking an Environmental Specialist III to oversee the development and implementation of Community Environmental Health (CEH) programs and drive quality improvements. You will conduct routine field inspections across Biomedical Waste, Food Hygiene, Group Care, and related areas with minimal supervision.

The role emphasizes thorough documentation, strong data interpretation, and delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, environmental science, or a physical/biological science.
Certified to perform food inspections in Florida as CEHP or RS/REHS.
Minimum 3 years of field inspection experience across multiple EPH programs.
Must have a current Driver’s License.
Transportation to perform inspections across Hillsborough County.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform field duties.
Preferred: 1 year as an EPH coordinator; EHD experience; bilingual Spanish/English; QA project experience.

Responsibilities

Monitor CEH program progress and document inspection results.
Identify and improve programmatic weaknesses; lead quality improvement initiatives.
Provide excellent customer service and act as subject matter expert for EPH programs.
Lead special projects within EPH programs and support large events and other programs as needed.
