Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking a Health Inspector to perform inspections across city limits to identify health violations and ensure compliance with City, State and Federal codes. You will respond to citizen complaints, investigate health concerns, and educate the public on applicable laws.

Required: high school diploma or GED and 2–4 years of related experience. Within one year you must obtain Texas Code Enforcement Officer certification and a Certified Pool Operator license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain Texas Code Enforcement Officer certification within one year.
• Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator certification within one year.
• Demonstrate effective communication, writing and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections at various locations within city limits to identify health violations and ensure compliance with City, State and Federal codes.
• Respond to citizen complaints and investigate health violations by inspecting properties and establishments.
• Conduct Certificate of Occupancy inspections and annual permitting inspections for ambulance services, salvage yards, and other facilities.
• Prepare detailed daily reports with findings, recommendations, citations, and complaint forms.
• Drive a City vehicle to and from inspection locations.
