Job summary

The City of Pasadena, TX is seeking a Health Inspector to perform inspections across city locations, identify health violations, and enforce City, State and Federal codes. Under general supervision, you will respond to citizen complaints and educate property owners to promote compliance.

Inspections include high grass, raw sewage, trash and debris, stagnant water, mold, illegal dumping, water service issues and public pools.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
2-4 years of related experience or combination of experience/training and college education.
Ability to obtain Code Enforcement Officer certification within one year of employment.
Ability to obtain Certified Pool Operator certification within one year of employment.
Demonstrate effective communication, writing and analytical skills.
Valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

Perform inspections to identify health violations and enforce codes citywide.
Respond to citizen complaints and educate for compliance with laws and ordinances.
Conduct Certificate of Occupancy inspections and annual permitting inspections for ambulance services and other listed facilities.
Prepare detailed daily reports with findings, recommendations, citations and complaint forms.
Drive a City vehicle to inspection locations.
