Job summary

The Georgia Department of Public Health seeks a Communicable Disease Spec 2 for the Fulton County Board of Health in the Nursing Services Division. The role focuses on gathering and analyzing data on communicable diseases and coordinating timely intervention strategies to protect residents.

The candidate will assist with disease cluster investigations, patient interviews, contact tracing, and guiding clients to testing and care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited college or university; or licensure as a registered nurse and one year of nursing experience; or four years of experience in a medical-related field.
• Two years of experience in a related area; or four years of experience in a medical-related field.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Science, Biology, Community Health, Nursing, Social Science, or a closely related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience conducting patient interviews, contact investigations, field investigations, and community outreach.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, analyzes and monitors data regarding communicable diseases within a health district.
• Ensures implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of such diseases.
• Assists with investigations of disease clusters, outbreaks, and other urgent public health events and implements appropriate disease-control measures.
• Monitors assigned cases and contacts to ensure completion of required testing, medical evaluation, treatment, and other interventions.
