Job summary

Mathematica is seeking an experienced Public Health Cloud Architect to transform how clients collect, exchange, manage health data. The role blends strategic design with hands-on implementation, leveraging modern cloud technologies for meaningful public health outcomes.

You will lead architecture, standards, and secure, scalable AWS-based data platforms. Collaboration with epidemiologists and data stewards is essential to translate needs into scalable, compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing and implementing AWS-based cloud solutions.
• FHIR-based data exchange implementations with AWS HealthLake or similar.
• Experience transforming and exchanging healthcare data using standards like FHIR/HL7/CDA.
• Designing ELT/ETL pipelines and data lakes/warehouses.
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, OpenTofu).
• Secure cloud architectures with IAM, encryption, and logging.
• Proficient in Python or similar languages for cloud-native apps.
• Leading technical workstreams and communicating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of cloud-native solutions for public health and policy domains.
• Promote cloud standards, reusable patterns, and DevSecOps practices.
• Design interoperability using FHIR/HL7/CDA for secure data exchange.
• Architect AWS data platforms (data lakes/warehouses) and related services.
• Lead data ingestion and ETL/ELT pipelines across diverse data sources.
• Collaborate with public health experts to translate needs into scalable solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud teams.
