Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) invites applications for an Accounting Specialist in the Operations Unit of the NC State Laboratory of Public Health. The role performs full accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, fixed assets, travel documentation, and invoicing within a structured financial workflow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable is preferred.
• Experience entering and reconciling financial data in NCFS or similar system is a plus.
• Ability to coordinate with vendors and internal staff to ensure accurate billing.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts receivable by recording payments and maintaining logs.
• Process accounts payable by validating invoices and preparing payment documents.
• Reconcile invoices against purchase orders with internal stakeholders.
• Track fixed assets and manage asset documentation.
• Assist deposit preparation and travel-related reimbursements.
