Job summary

The City of Yakima Finance Division is seeking an energetic team player with a strong bookkeeping background to join the team at City Hall. This full-time role focuses on financial recordkeeping, processing invoices, and maintaining accurate ledgers in a fast-paced environment.

You will handle accounts payable, timekeeping, payroll-related records, and banking reconciliations, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 18 months of financial recordkeeping or accounting experience.
• Completed technical/vocational, associate's or bachelor's in accounting/business may substitute for the work experience.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and ability to maintain accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

• Greet the public and provide information; handle calls and visitors.
• Maintain computerized and manual financial records and prepare documents and reports.
• Process invoices, purchase orders, and reimbursements with accuracy.
• Handle cash receipts, deposits and bank reconciliations; balance ledgers.
• Assist audits and provide information to auditors as needed.
