Job summary

The Village of Villa Park seeks a dynamic Finance Director to lead budgeting, accounting, procurement, investments, and financial reporting. This role serves as CFO/Treasurer, guiding strategic financial decisions, overseeing a team, and ensuring transparent stewardship of public funds.

The Director may serve on Pension Boards and collaborates across departments. Responsibilities include preparing budgets, managing cash and debt, reporting to the Village Board, and driving capital planning while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Seven years of progressively responsible government finance experience.
• CPA preferred.
• Ability to pass a thorough background screening.
• Strong knowledge of municipal accounting, GASB standards, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all Finance Department operations, including accounting, purchasing, billing, and treasury functions.
• Develop and oversee the Village’s annual budget and long-term financial strategies.
• Maintain accurate financial records, oversee revenue collection, and manage cash, debt, and investments.
• Prepare financial reports, tax levy documents, and audit materials.
• Provide financial analysis for capital planning and economic development.
• Ensure compliance with municipal, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Support departments, the Village Manager, and the Village Board with timely financial information and recommendations.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop Finance Department staff.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify grant opportunities and manage financial aspects of grants.
