Job summary

Austincc seeks a Director of Finance to lead the Township's Finance Department, directing daily operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB, and coordinating with auditors and department heads. This role requires strategic financial planning, strong communication, and hands-on management.

Applicants should have a CPA/CPFO or equivalent, a Bachelor's in finance or accounting, and at least five years in governmental or nonprofit accounting, including supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of professional accounting experience involving fiscal or budgetary activities in a governmental operation or non-profit operation, including at least two (2) years in supervisory capacity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Caselle or equivalent, and ability to learn other software as required.
• Demonstrated experience supervising employees and managing departmental operations.
• Considerable knowledge of public finance and fiscal planning, municipal government operations, payroll and accounts payable functions, budgetary and accounting and reporting systems, GAAP, GASB standards.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to research, write and edit statistical, financial and factual information.

Responsibilities

• Comprehends, analyzes and applies modern approved governmental fiscal and related methods to the Township's fiscal and budget work.
• Attends trainings, seminars, and conferences necessary to stay current on all mandates and changes impacting the township financially.
• Maintains confidentiality with confidential employee information and records.
• Anticipates, analyzes and resolves complicated problems.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly financial reports and analyzes budgets for the Township Manager.
• Oversees general accounting and financial reporting functions including budgets, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, revenue distribution, and audits.
• Coordinates annual audits and liaises with auditors and actuarial staff as needed.
• Maintains payroll, taxes, and related statutory reporting within a modified accrual accounting system.
• Plans, organizes and directs Finance Department tasks and trains staff.
• Prepares and manages the Finance Department budget and assists in long-range financial planning.
