Sands Anderson PC is seeking a Public Finance Attorney to join our Durham, North Carolina office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney interested in sophisticated public finance work within a collaborative, mid‑size firm that balances high‑level legal work with a supportive culture.

Our Durham office supports clients throughout North Carolina and works closely with colleagues across the firm’s government and public finance practices.
Responsibilities
- Represent public sector clients in a variety of public finance transactions, including general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, and other tax‑advantaged financings
- Serve as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, underwriter’s counsel, or borrower’s counsel, as appropriate
- Advise clients on North Carolina public finance law, tax matters, and related regulatory requirements
- Draft and review bond documents, closing certifications, and transaction materials
- Participate in client meetings and work collaboratively with bankers, financial advisors, and other professionals
- Support business development efforts and contribute to long‑term client relationships
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in North Carolina, or ability to obtain licensure promptly
- Experience in public finance, municipal law, or government representation is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with state and local government financing structures and applicable tax considerations
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters effectively and work both independently and as part of a team
