Job summary

The City of Aurora in Colorado is hiring an Events Coordinator for the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department (PROS). The role plans, permits, develops, organizes, produces and evaluates a wide range of community events to enhance the daily quality of life for Aurora residents.

Responsibilities include managing events from 500 to 6,000 attendees, coordinating with marketing, vendors and volunteers, handling contracts and budgets, securing sponsorships and partnerships, and ensuring permits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in event management, recreation, or a directly related field or equivalent.
• At least 3 years’ experience in special events.
• Experience in sponsorship sales and sponsorship relations.
• Experience in a public sector/government environment preferred.
• Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, organizes, implements, administers, and evaluates city special events and coordinates and serves in lead and support roles for other events as assigned.
• Arranges all aspects of public special events (500 to 6,000 attendees) including site mapping, budgets, security, vendor coordination, sponsorship deliverables and activation, signage, supplies and equipment.
• Coordinates with marketing to ensure promotion needs are met, including sponsorship deliverables and website.
• Coordinates event volunteers and assigns onsite roles and responsibilities.
• Establishes relationships with sponsors, neighborhood organizations, and businesses involved in events.
• Performs administrative tasks including contract management, permitting, budgeting records and annual reports.
