Job summary

The City of Aurora is seeking an Events Coordinator for the Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department to plan and oversee city events from concept to execution.

Responsibilities include coordinating permits, budgets, vendors, sponsorships, and volunteers; collaborating with marketing staff for promotions; and maintaining strong relationships with community partners and sponsors. Requires a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years in event management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in event management, recreation, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in special events.
  • Experience in sponsorship sales and public sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, administer, and evaluate city special events and lead other events as assigned.
  • Coordinate all aspects of public events (500 to 6,000 attendees) including budgets, security, vendors and activation.
  • Coordinate with marketing to ensure promotions, signage and sponsorship deliverables are defined.
  • Coordinate event volunteers and define onsite roles and assignments.
  • Establish relationships with sponsors, neighborhood organizations and local businesses.
  • Perform administrative tasks including contracts, permitting, budgeting records and reports.
  • Manage workflow processes and perform additional duties as assigned.
