Job summary

NYSTRS in New York offers a student internship in the Public Equities Division. You will assist with research, sector analyses, and performance monitoring while gaining exposure to investment committee materials and due diligence sessions.

Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time finance/accounting/data science degree with at least one semester remaining, and by Summer 2027 be a rising junior/senior or graduate student. Hybrid work schedule is expected.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s or master’s degree program in finance, accounting, business management, data science or a closely related major, with at least one semester remaining to complete all degree requirements following the internship and must be a rising junior, rising senior, or a graduate student by Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Assist with research, including sector analyses, manager reviews and industry trends across public markets
• Support portfolio monitoring, including performance measurement, risk analytics and reporting
• Help prepare materials for internal meetings, investment committee discussions, board meetings and due diligence sessions
• Participate in meetings with external investment managers
• Contribute to special projects, such as operational initiatives, asset allocation, etc.
