About the Opportunity:

A rapidly growing California civil defense law firm is seeking a Public Entity Defense Attorney to join its Long Beach office. This is an outstanding opportunity to work with an established public entity practice representing municipalities, government agencies, school districts, and public risk pools throughout California.

You'll work alongside experienced trial attorneys handling sophisticated, high-exposure litigation while receiving strong mentorship, excellent support staff, and a manageable caseload that allows attorneys to develop their practice.

What You'll Handle:

• Public entity and municipal liability defense
• Dangerous condition of public property claims
• Premises liability and trip-and-fall cases
• Railroad and transportation litigation
• Catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters
• Motor vehicle accidents involving public employees
• Park, recreation, and public event injury claims

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar license in good standing
• 3+ years of Public Entity Insurance Defense experience required
• Experience handling cases from inception through resolution
• Strong motion practice, discovery, depositions, and court appearances
• Experience defending municipalities, government agencies, school districts, or public risk pools is highly preferred

Performance Expectations

• Annual billable requirement of 1,900 hours (approximately 158 hours per month)

Salary and Other Compensation:

• The annual salary for this position is between $160,000 – $225,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
